SERVICE AT THE MISSION SINCE
2023
I gave my life to Jesus in 1987. He delivered me from an unhealthy lifestyle and set my path on an amazing adventure. He directed me to return to college and I became an elementary teacher. I taught in the last of the one room schools of Madison County for eight years. I then taught at Bel Air Elementary for twelve years. I retired in 2020. I also substitute teach and work part time at the Norfolk Rescue Mission.
My husband, Stan, and I have been married for 45 years. We have two daughters, Angela and Alicia. Both live in Vermillion, S.D. Angela and Lucas blessed us with our first grandson, Lazarus age 4.
As an ambassador for Jesus Christ, I minister to the women who enter the doors of the Norfolk Rescue Mission. I share Jesus with them, pray for and with them, and offer support and encouragement as they journey through this season of their life. I also go to Madison County Jail on Wednesdays to minister to the female inmates.
I was helping a disciple make a peach dump cake for supper. Earlier, he had watched me make a bundt cake and turn it upside down to cool. I left the kitchen to go the Hope House and told him to remove the dump cake from oven when it was done. About an hour later, I get a call from him saying something was wrong with the cake, and that it must not be all the way done yet. He had taken the dump cake and turned it upside down like he had seen me do with the bundt cake. We had to scoop it back into the pan. It was a dumped dump cake.
