SERVICE AT THE MISSION SINCE
June 2001 (also served as a chapel volunteer from 1999-2001)
After graduating from Calvary Chapel Bible College in 1993, I moved to Redding, CA to help plant a church with some classmates. A few years later, I married Mariah and began to grow our family. In 1999 we moved to Norfolk as a family of four including Elizabeth, age 2 and Katherine who was only 2 months old. I started volunteering weekly at the Mission as a Chapel speaker and in 2001 I was hired on as the Director of Men's Ministries. From 2000 to 2005 we added four more children to the mix (Laura, Sarah, Allison and Gregory). All in all, we have six amazing kids, one son-in-law, a big dog and some fish. In 2004 I became the Executive Director as Pastor Tom Beatty moved on to another call of God. After 17 years in rescue ministry, I have seen God at work in so many ways. He is truly amazing!
As the Executive Director, I am responsible for the behind-the-scenes management of our team, facilities, resources and donations. I also have the privilege of teaching a handful of Bible classes in our New Life Program. I manage the annual Book Sale, speak at area churches, and even cook a breakfast every now and again.
At a staff Christmas party many years ago, while we were eating supper, a random couple walked in, grabbed a plate of food and began eating. We had no idea who they were, nor did they know what was going on. They apparently needed a meal that night and our party filled the order.
"And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.” 1 Corinthians 6:11
After Paul lists out a number of heinous sins that would keep any man out of the Kingdom, he then reminds us that those sins can be left in the past due to the amazing justifying work of Christ.
